- Pipe Insulation
- Duct Tape
- Garden Basket
- Styrofoam Ball
- Paint Stir Stick
- Zipties
I only needed part of the styrofoam ball so I cut it in half with a saw.
I started by building the frame for the body of the spider. I have the half of the styrofoam ball for the cephalothorax and the upside down hanging basket for the abdomen. To attach the two together I used a paint stick.
I used tape to secure the stick at the back, the front and the head.
Then I covered the whole body with a garbage bag. Pulling it under and securing it with tape.
I cut triangles into the pipe insulation with an electric knife. The triangles will make the joints in the legs. Tape them to keep the bend in place.
Tape all four legs together. Then pinch in the middle to tape it extra tight.
So now my spider is two pieces: body and legs.
Flip over the body and place legs on top of it. Poke holes through the plastic so the zip tie goes under the metal of the basket and over the leg. Secure the legs like this in the four corners.

This is an amazing Halloween decoration Olivia! I love it's giant size...it's so dramatic and creepy. How clever to craft with pool noodles! Pinned!
