It is time for my plants to get a serious makeover, a new life, with a cute new painted pot. Over the winter months my succulents were lacking some much needed sunlight which left them quite long. Dangling sideways out of the pot is not a great position for these guys, so some much needed propagating was required.
This plant is a mood.

I started this endeavor by painting a cute pot for my succulents.

Supplies:
So, the pot I’m painting may look a little strange, that’s because it is technically a bulb pan. This shallow and wide shape works great for succulents, especially propagating them!
First, I paint the rim of the pot white with chalk paint. Then, I paint the bottom portion of the pot with this nice lime color. I went over a few areas that needed touch ups.
Once the paint is dry, I go in with my favorite paint marker and start a simple basket weave pattern. I’m not exaggerating at all about how much I love this marker, the hard tip creates gorgeous lines and I have never had issues with it clogging or drying up. I’ve had this marker for 5+ years and it still works perfectly every time I get it out. It’s basically a checkered pattern with three vertical lines and three horizontal lines. I continue this pattern around the whole rim of the pot. What I love about this style, is it doesn’t need to be perfect, in fact, it has way more character if it’s not perfect. It’s like this fun idea of organic geometrics, I guess it’s technically a paradox? Oh well. To seal in the design, I use the Triple Thick Glaze and apply multiple thin coats.
Check back in for my new post where I bring new life to some “leggy” friends.

Olivia, I love the fresh modern colors and basket weave pattern! The colors would work well in my home and I'm feeling inspired to maybe do a few for my kitchen bay window.
