Christmas Gift Ideas for Crafters

Christmas Gift Ideas for Crafters

Sharing is caring!

Christmas gifts for crafters. This is a mixture of things I’ve owned and loved, things I’ve heard good reviews about, and things that I would love to receive. Some of these items are more kid-friendly, but can still be enjoyed by adults or have adult versions.

When it comes to buying for other people, please keep in mind what type of person they are. Some of these gifts I mention below may not be suited for people who are impatient, just a forewarning. There are crafts that employ tedious, time-consuming tasks, and I enjoy them, I see them as me getting a good deal on the price per hour of enjoyment, but other people do not feel that way.

Kits

Arts and Crafts kits are some of my favorite gifts! You can find some that are one time projects, and others that can start someone on their way to a new hobby. While the finished product is something to consider when making these purchases, there are several other factors to keep in mind: Playability, Creativity, Skill-development, and Fun.

Scholastic has some really great craft kits they’re called Klutz Kits and some of them are pretty timeless. I still have the book for the first one I got (Friendship Bracelets).

Weaving

This Friendship Bracelet book came out in the 90s and it still holds it worth! Find it HERE

These are also called Alphabracelets and I’m glad they came out with this kit. Find it HERE

Resin-like/Casting Crafts Kid-Friendly

These Jelli Rez kits are super neat you can cast adorable projects! It is similar to epoxy resin by being a two part compound that takes time to cure, but it doesn’t have the dangerous fumes! Find it HERE

So perler beads have been around since the 1960’s, they have a pretty limitless amount of playability (depending on how many beads you have), lots of room for creativity and great hand-dexterity development. The down side? They have to be ironed, which involves an adult, or worse, a trip to the emergency room. I have found two great alternatives that don’t require heat.

Aquabeads

Aquabeads are neat! You place out the beads and spray them with water. You can find one of the kits HERE, and one of the refill packs HERE.

Diamond Art

Ok, so diamond art or diamond painting, or whatever you want to call it, is absolutely addicting. There are all kinds of kits available for all ages and skill-levels, it’s a simple concept, and it’s so satisfying.

I’ve always wanted to try wood carving, this is another etsy find HERE.

Cross-stitch/Embroidery

I think this is a great little introduction to cross-stitching! The designs are adorable and you end up with keychains! Find it HERE

Decoden

Whipple is THE brand when it comes to kids decoden craft kits. I like this Deluxe Set. Find it HERE

They also sell several different faux cookie decorating kits. They are all so adorable. Find it HERE

Books

Books on crafting are great! I have shelves full of them. I like to look back at them for inspiration, patterns, and reference frequently.

A fun gift idea would be to get a book on a type of craft and flip through it, and get the person some of the supplies they would need for the projects! Felt plushies are a great example of that idea in action. Get them a book, some felt sheets, embroidery floss and stuffing, and they are on their way!

Making little felt creatures is what got me interested in hand sewing to begin with. I learned how to follow instructions, use a pattern, basic sewing and embroidery, and eventually, drafting my own patterns.
