Fall Decorating Ideas – DIY Fabric Pumpkin

First I printed out my pattern on some copy paper and cut it out. Then I pinned it down onto my flannel and cut it out. I cut out the pumpkin shape until I had 8 of them out of flannel.

Next, I put two flannel pieces on top of each other and pinned them before sewing them together with a 1/4in seam allowance. Also, I made sure to leave a 3in opening in the bottom to flip it right side out and also to stuff it.

It is important to make relief cuts around the curves, just make sure not to snip into the stitch line!

From there, I reached up into the pumpkin, grabbed the top edge and pulled it through the opening to flip the pumpkin piece right-side-out.

• 

Then each pumpkin piece needs to be stuffed and have the opening stitched closed.

At this point, I lined my pieces up and, using a long needle, ran a running stitch through the middle of each of them, sewing them together.

They naturally start to bunch, creating that great pumpkin shape!

For the stem I used a piece of rope that I folded in half and knotted. Then I hot glued it to the top.
