You can find my inspiration for this project HERE. I wanted to make my own, easy and affordable version to use outside in our garden! I love mushrooms, especially those classic, red toadstools.

Before painting terracotta pots check that they are free of dirt and debris that can affect the paint. If they need to be washed, make sure they dry completely before painting them.
Paint the outside of the pot white, even the bottom. I usually do at least two coats of paint for full coverage.
The top of the saucer (the underside of the mushroom cap) is painted white, like the gills of a toad stool mushroom. while the bottom/outside (top of the mushroom) is painted red.
To paint the dots on the mushroom cap I use the end of a paintbrush as a dotting tool. I find the easiest way to load paint onto the tip is by dipping it into the cap of the paint bottle. Then just dot the paint onto the top. You can go for perfect circles, but I moved the brush around to create a more natural look.
I try to vary the size and shape of the dots over the whole top. Working from the center and then out to the edges is the best way to add them so you don’t end up smearing paint with your hand.
This sealant is sooo easy to apply. A few minutes between coats, no drips or splatters, simple and clean. Just follow the directions on the can for a beautiful, glossy finish. Spray the outside of the pot and the put and bottom of the saucer.
You can stop there and set it up in your garden, or, you can use some superglue to attach the pieces together!
